Isopropyl Myristate (Eshter-IPM)

Isopropyl Myristate (Esther-IPM) is a Colorless transparent liquid, and can mix with organic solvent, but not in water. It has no stimulation and allergy to skin. It is not easy to be oxygenated and acetified.It is one of important additives of top grade cosmetics, and it owns excellent performance of infiltration, moistening and softening to skin, so it can be used as emulsifier and wetting agent of cosmetics.

Isopropyl myristate (IPM) is the ester of isopropyl alcohol and myristic acid.

Isopropyl myristate is a polar emollient and is used in cosmetic and topical pharmaceutical preparations where skin absorption is desired. It is also used as a treatment for head lice. It is also in flea and tick killing products for pets.

It is used to remove bacteria from the oral cavity as the non-aqueous component of the two-phase mouthwash product "Dentyl pH".

Isopropyl myristate is also used as a solvent in perfume materials, and in the removal process of prosthetic make-up.

Hydrolysis of the ester from isopropyl myristate can liberate the acid and the alcohol. The acid is theorized to be responsible for decreasing of the pH value of formulations.

Hair care: It works as a hydrating agent, emollient, and enhancer. It hydrates the hair and the scalp and enhances the penetration of other ingredients in the formulation. It is not recommended for particularly thin hair, as it can make it appear greasy, or an oily scalp or hair, as it can lead to clogged pores

It has excellent penetration, moisturizing and softening effects on the skin and is widely used in skin care products.

It is used as an extender in cosmetics, a combination of powder-pressed cosmetics, and a good solvent for pigments in makeup.

It is commonly used in formulations such as foundation creams, sunscreens, eye shadows, lipsticks, and mascara.

In the makeup oil, shower gel, moisturizing milk, hair dye and other formulations as a softener, thickener.

Low viscosity, low volatility, can be used as a solvent instead of mineral oil, aromatic solvents used in inks, pesticides, etc.
